Successful breeders who ride what we breed!

After 30+ years in South Dakota, the lack of competitons that were feasible for us to get to, plus winters that became unbearable, we settled on the Aiken area. We had sold several horses in the southeast , making good friends along the way. With the encouragement of those friends we decided to do it and made the move in the Spring of 2024. Building up the new farm has been a challenge and many never ending projects but we feel we are finally "presentable" and ready for visitors.

We are serious about producing and developing beautiful Sport Horses that are RIDEABLE and AFFORDABLE for the rider who wants to be competitive and enjoy their horse. We always have a nice selection of young horses for sale, in training with Craig Heckert.

Craig is one of a small group of people to have earned their US Dressage Federation Bronze, Silver and Gold Medals on a horse they have trained.

Our young horses are sired by our own performance proven stallions out of carefully selected dams. These are the stallions that are the foundation of our program. Click on each horse's name to learn more about them.

We chose the Aiken area for it's incredible Sport Horse culture, amenities, super people, wonderful footing and the weather! Our goal is producing quality, purpose bred Sport Horses. Our program is based on performance proven European and American bloodlines.

Honesty and Integrity...

..are words we live by. We find it offensive that the horse industry has such a reputation for dishonesty. We don't believe that "buyer beware" has any place in our dealings. We tell the truth about our horses. We present our credentials and the accomplishments of our horses up front and truthfully. The horses we offer for sale were almost always bred and raised by us. We seldom buy horses for resale, but are always on the lookout for quality broodmares and broodmare prospects.

The Program

The training team at Rivervale Farm include a "Young Horse Specialist" (who is also a successful FEI Dressage competitor as well as through Modified Level Eventing) and a former Intermediate Level Eventer.. The young horses are not bucked out by a colt breaker or started by working students and assistants. They are carefully trained in a way that sets the horse up for success. This results in a horse that enjoys interacting with people and that love their jobs. Along with their dressage training, all of the young horses learn to trail ride, jump stadium and cross country jumps, cross water and ditches and are exposed to a variety of wildlife and traffic. Of course we work with proven and performance tested bloodlines that are known for producing horses with rideability, which makes our job much easier and insures a wonderful partner for you.
